Big Thanks to CANMEC

TSW would like to give a big thank you to CANMEC for their generous donation.

We were recently invited to CANMEC’s celebration luncheon as they had completed their part of the modernization project!  At the end of the luncheon they presented us with this $2000.00 donation. We couldn’t be more thrilled and appreciative of such a helpful contribution.

Rolly Lumbala, Fullback and Travis Lulay, Quarterback from the BC Lions were in Kitimat on Wednesday, March 12th. They were here to be a part of the Be More Than a Bystander Program and did presentations at Mount Elizabeth Theater.

A breakfast meeting was held at the Firehall Prior to the presentation at the theater. Following the breakfast the BC Lions football players went to the highschool and did a presentation with the grade 10-11-12’s and then breakout groups with about 25-30 students where they were able to work on skills to be more than a bystander!

Be More Than a Bystander, is a groundbreaking partnership between the BC Lions and Ending Violence Association (EVA BC ) and is aimed at substantially increasing awareness and understanding about the impact of men’s violence against women with the goal of building mutually respectful relationships between men and women.

Human Rights Day

December 10th celebrates human rights that are shared across the globe and how far we have come in making human rights as all, as well as acknowledging there is still more work to be done. The aim is to educate people, especially youth on the importance of human rights for all so that we can keep the battle going. Many activities will be held at this time associated with the cause and activism surrounding it.

As we commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action, let us intensify our efforts to fulfill our collective responsibility to promote and protect the rights and dignity of all people everywhere.
